Sleep parameters might affect the attrition of leukocyte telomere length

چکیده

Background The relationship between sleep parameters and longitudinal shortening of telomere length is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the leukocyte (LTL) over two years. Method Among participants in validation cohort Korea Brain Aging Study for Early Diagnosis Prediction Alzheimer’s Disease, who measured both baseline follow-up (two years later) LTL were analyzed. They dichotomized according degree attrition. Clinical characteristics, including duration, latency, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Stanford Sleepiness Scale, Epworth Scale scores compared groups. Result A total 238 patients analyzed current study. Participants with faster had a shorter duration (P = 0.013) longer latency 0.007). components PSQI, subjective measures quality, efficiency significantly worse shortening. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that (odds ratio [OR] 1.015, confidence interval [CI] 1.001–1.029, P 0.029), global PSQI score (OR 1.130, CI 1.017–1.256, 0.023), shortest 5.057, 1.189–21.502; 0.028), lowest 8.598, 1.584–46.672, independently associated Conclusion Poor specifically long less than 5 hours sleep, low LTL.

Leukocyte telomere length: the telomere tale continues.

In culture, replicating human somatic cells display progressive telomere shortening. Ultimately, such cells either undergo apoptosis or enter a state of replicative senescence that is triggered by critically shortened telomeres. Accordingly, telomere length is an index of both the replicative history and the replicative potential of human somatic cells in culture (1). Most replicating human som...

Homocysteine levels and leukocyte telomere length.

OBJECTIVE Elevated plasma homocysteine is a risk factor for vascular diseases, possibly due to homocysteine-mediated increase in oxidative stress and inflammation. As leukocyte telomere length (LTL) registers the cumulative oxidative stress and inflammation, we examined the relationship between homocysteine and LTL. METHODS LTL was measured using the Southern blot method. The relationship bet...

Aberrant leukocyte telomere length in Birdshot Uveitis

PURPOSE Birdshot Uveitis (BU) is an archetypical chronic inflammatory eye disease, with poor visual prognosis, that provides an excellent model for studying chronic inflammation. BU typically affects patients in the fifth decade of life. This suggests that it may represent an age-related chronic inflammatory disease, which has been linked to increased erosion of telomere length of leukocytes. ...

Adiposity, telomere length and telomere attrition in midlife: the 1946 British Birth Cohort.

Background Obesity has been linked with shorter telomere length, both of which have been implicated in ageing, but the impact of early life adiposity on telomere length is unclear. Methods We included 2,479 participants from the MRC National Survey of Health and Development with measurements of body mass index (BMI), waist and hip circumference and leukocyte telomere length (LTL) at age 53, o...

Oxidative Stress-induced Telomere Length Shortening of Circulating Leukocyte in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea

The main mechanism of pathogenesis which causes systemic complications in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients is believed to be intermittent hypoxia-induced intermediary effect and it depends on the burden of oxidative stress during sleep. We aimed to search the predictive markers which reflect the burden of systemic oxidative stress in patients with OSA and whether excessive telomere length...
